Master Bedroom
I have been wanting to do a post for a while about my Master Bedroom.
It took a little while longer than I wanted to complete it and I really shouldn’t even call it complete yet.
I still need to get my curtains up, but I just couldn’t wait any longer.
The reason for this is because I went totally different than I normally would with the paint color.
I wanted something “Sultry” for the Master.
Z told me that if I said that word one more time, he was going to Puke!
Hey! Can’t a girl dream?
It’s always nice to know his Flame still burns for me????…..
Anyway, I know it’s not complete yet.
I haven’t put anything on the walls besides the TV. (Had to have the TV!)
The light coming through the windows is actually lightening up the color in the picture above.
It’s actually darker than the picture really shows.
We painted the wall, crown, and ceiling all different colors.
A lot of times, people forget about “the fifth wall”. (That is what they call the ceiling)
What most do not realize is how much it can do for a room when you choose to paint the ceiling.
It can either cozy up really high ceilings or it can just make such a bold statement.
You can either use a flat paint which will cover easier, or you can go with an Eggshell.
Eggshell will reflect the light really well on a sunny day, but it is harder to work with and will show any flaws you have in the ceiling.
For a DIYer, it’s best to go with flat.
I thought it best to give the man of the house the masculine dresser and just to make sure he knows which one is his,
I marked it with his initial.
You can never be too careful about these things.
Ahhhhh! Refreshing white is mine.
I love that dresser!
One always needs a fan humming at night to block out the snores of their mate and pooch!
I loooooove these pillows I picked up at Homegoods.
This is my beloved Chandelier. I drooled over this one for months before I actually pulled the trigger on it.
It is considered a “Champagne Bronze” and has glass pearls cascading down it, which I bought at The Home Depot.
I’m really excited because I just picked up the matching flush mount and the mini versions of it
for my Master Bath and Closet. ( I’ll show in a later post)
Here is another angle of it in the mirror’s reflection. I bought the mirror at Homegoods also a little while ago for only $29.
Here is another angle of the wall colors. It gives a little more accurate idea of the shade.
I will ALWAYS display my boots because I wuv them so much .
This is the view from the Master Bath, which should really be called “The Community Bath” instead.
I mean, let’s be honest here…..
Not until my children move out, will it ever truely be a Master Bath for just us.
Here is a link to the Wall Colors so you can check them out for your self:
*Keep in mind, that not all colors look the same online as they would on a wall.*
Wall – Wolf Gray by Benjamin Moore
Ceiling – Metropolitan by Benjamin Moore
Crown – Bright White (High Gloss) *Ask your paint salesman for a true Bright White (Most paint stores have a tendency to “gray” their whites)
*We used an Eggshell Paint which Z prefers to use for interiors.
If you have any questions regarding which paint to purchase for you next home project, email me and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
I’ll even ask “the expert”. ( Z )
Until Next Time…..

New House Update / “Conversation Area”
I wanted to give you an update on our new house. We have been hard at work trying to get it cozified. (Yes, I know. I made that word up.)
Which reminds me, I should probably update my kitchen picture on my “About Me” page. Maybe later.
Anyway, I don’t know about you, but in my home, the kitchen is the main area everyone likes to congregate.
AND I love that! I feel like that is exactly where I want everyone.
In the kitchen, talking, eating, and even curling up with a good book? WHAT?!?
“Curling up with a good book?” YUP!
In my old kitchen, Z would come home and we would literally hop up on the counter tops, sit there with beer and a glass of wine, and talk about our day.
We would try to do this without interruption from our children, but alas, this never was the case.
Our old home was so tiny, there was no place to hide. AND I MEAN NO WHERE!
Exibit A:
So, what I’m tryin to say…. is that even if it is just us, and not a million people, we still seem to hang out in the kitchen.
With this being the case, I decided that instead of having a breakfast nook with a table……
I would have a breakfast nook with “A Conversation Area”. I know what you are thinking. Why not just call it a Sitting Area? Well, because I don’t want people to just sit. I want them to actually Converse with eachother! : )
The way the layout of my home is designed… the kitchen, dining room, and family room are all open. So, I didn’t see the need for both a dining room table and a breakfast table.
It’s not completely finished yet. I still need to hang curtains, and move the original light from the center of the space, over to hang between the two chairs and the side table in the center there.
This is what the space looked like before. ( The day we moved in )
We still have to change out the flooring. Thank goodness this is laminate and not tile. Else, we would not be doing them for a while. It is not fun having to remove tile before laying any kind of wood flooring!
We are going to have to do this in our foyer and I really think that is the reason we keep putting it off.
I absolutely love this Industrial looking side table I snagged at Homegoods. It has wheels on it, so I can easily move it if I want to.
I got the linen chair from Homegoods as well. It was missing one little button on one of the arms and the lady knocked $50 off! Either she was being really nice, or she did her math wrong! Regardless, I SCORED!
I got my pretty floral bird chair from Overstock.com. I waited until it went on sale. The fact that their shipping was only $2.50, and they didn’t charge me tax because of the state I lived in, was an added bonus!
I’ll make sure to post more as we do more updates to the space.
I am working on finishing up my office space too, so hopefully I will have more pictures to share on that as well very soon.
This is the before picture of it:
SO, you can imagine that anything I do to it, will probably make the space look better. I’m trying to “girly” it up, so that certain male species in my home feel uncomfortable being in there after maybe 240.28 seconds.
Happy Monday y’all!
I scream! You scream! We all scream for COFFEE!!!
Decorating has been on my mind as of lately.
Well, ok. It’s ALWAYS on my mind. Wish it weren’t, but it is.
Thanks to lovely Pinterest, I just did a cool coffee station in my dining room. One of my good friends “pinned” it to one of her boards and I just had to do it in my own house.
Having a coffee station allows you to free up much needed counter space. I have a Bunn coffee maker, so it sticks really far out and it really only worked in one place on my counters.
This is my version. (I know the shelf is off center, so I fixed it. Just wasn’t smart enough to post another pic reflecting that).
I snagged this cabinet at Homegoods. I had seen it one day and told myself that if I went back a few days later and it was there, I would get it. Anybody who has been to a Homegoods knows that you can go there, fall in love with something, and then go back an hour later and it’s GONE! They have such great deals on things, that they fly out of the store. Especially furniture pieces.
I love it because not only can I put my coffee there, but now I have a spot for my wine.
This bottle looks lonely right now, but soon she will have lots of friends to play with. : ) › Continue reading
