Rosemary and Peppermint Body Soap

DSC_4210

The Holidays are just a blink away and it wouldn’t be nice of me if I didn’t share this updated version of the DIY Soap I make for my family and myself.  I did a post a while back about an experience I had on my 10th Wedding Anniversary where my poor sensitive skin reacted to a facial cleanser I purchased.

Long story short, I started to make my own and loved it so much that now, that is all my entire family uses.  Since then, I have also had a few other family members  and friends start to use it and now that is all they use too!

Adding Rosemary and Peppermint not only gives the bars a fantastic smell…… I think they would be great Christmas gifts because the fragrance is so perfect for the Holidays!

DSC_4213

Simply wrap them in wax paper and secure them with decorative twine and you have the cutest little homemade gifts that mean so much more when it comes to gift giving.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to share some REALLY BIG NEWS!  Well, BIG NEWS  for me at least!  😉

I have had so many requests for videos and now, I am excited to announce that Babies and Biscuits will now be posting videos on Youtube.

My hope is that you will find them helpful and maybe a little funny.  Maybe I should also mention that I hope you get my kind of cooky personality too.

Just for you, I went ahead and made a video for the Rosemary and Peppermint Soap bars during the last batch I made.

Happy Saturday Everybody!

Fall Decorating

DSC_4192

When it comes to seasonal decorating, nothing gets me more excited than Fall.

It must be because change is happening all around you.  It’s a lot like what Spring time does to someone who has been experiencing Winter for so long.  Those long cold days that finally see the warmth of Spring, accompanied by the that first sign of new life in a budding flower.

It’s exactly the same thing for me after a long hot Summer.

Those first few true days of Fall when I start to see the leaves change colors with all the vibrant oranges and yellows and browns.  The crisp cool air that begs you to grab that first hot chocolate or apple cider.

DSC_4180

The thought of those endless ideas running through a little child’s head of what their imagination tells them they can be for that one special night on Halloween.

DSC_4179

I think I enjoy all those Halloween movies more than my own children.  I force them to watch the countless reruns of Halloween Town, Halloween Town Part 2, 3, 4………………  so that if someone comes in and catches me, I can blame it on them.  It’s a good thing no one knows I can recite the entire movie of Hocus Pocus without even thinking about it.  Don’t tell anyone I told you that!

DSC_4193

Freshening up your front entry way can do wonders for your home.  I had majority of the items already like the wood box, haystack, and pumpkins.  I added a few mums and the corn stalks that I found at Lowes.

Small changes like even painting your front door can really freshen up the space as well.  We used a dark gray on our doors that used to be red.  I love gray for so many reasons.  The best reason is that because it is so neutral, it goes well with any color scheme.

DSC_4177

The silk leaves are left overs I had from last season and can be found at any craft store or even places like Walmart.

DSC_4187

The window box on the front window got seasonal flowers as well.  I couldn’t wait to try out this beautiful ornamental kale I found.

DSC_4184

I have always seen these in pictures in magazines and as silly as it seems, I just had to get them.

DSC_4200

I really love the way they look.  It almost seems like they could be Cabbage Patch Kids…….. Admit it!  You thought about it.  😉

DSC_4190

Whatever you go with for your seasonal decorating, make sure to only use things that you really love!  Don’t settle for anything else!

Happy Decorating!

XOXO,

Esther

Laundry Room Make Over Series: DIY “WASH” Sign

DSC_3890

I have been wanting to “Spruce” up my Laundry Room for a while.

I didn’t want to break the bank in the process though, so I decided I would do it in fazes.  This is the first post in a series of posts I will do as I update it.  🙂

I had seen the letters “W A S H” on someone else’s Laundry Room wall and I decided to do it myself.  I think it was Kathryn from Do It On a Dime, which is a Youtube channel, but she also has a blog that she started recently to go along with it.  LOVE her!  She has great tips for ……. you guessed it, Doing things on a Dime, or on the cheap.  You can check out her youtube channel here, and her blog here.

So, first off, I went to my local craft store, AC Moore and bought the unfinished wooden letters.  They were 2 for $5.00, which I thought was pretty good.

DSC_3892

I also picked up a can of Rust-Oleum’s Painter’s Touch Spray Paint in a Metallic Aluminum Color for $6.99.  My walls are painted Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore in the Laundry Room and instead of painting them a contrasting color, I wanted them to have almost an “embossed” look, so I chose a color as similar as possible to the wall color.

DSC_3895

I sprayed them with 2 light coats of paint and it covered VERY VERY well.

DSC_3903

This was the end result, which I’m really happy with.

However, I might move the letters because since I did the letters, we have decided to do a few more updates to the Laundry Room, which I am REALLY excited about.

I will make sure to do updates on it as we progress through the work.

While I was at it, I decided to take a White Wired Trash Can I purchased at the Dollar Tree and spray it too.

DSC_3898

While you might not be able to tell a huge difference on photo, it did spice it up a little and not make it look so “Dollar Tree”ish.  Did that sound bad?  I hope not.  I was definitely happy with the fact that I was able to get more uses out of the one can of spray paint and still had some left to do other projects!

Stay tuned for more updates on the Laundry Room Makeover!

XOXO,

Esther

Showing Hospitality Towards Others: Veggie Garden Baskets

DSC_3757.jpg

This is going to be a different kind of post….. well sort of.  As you know, I love to blog about all kinds of things.  Decorating, cooking, my “babies”.  I don’t usually talk about my faith or mention God a lot, but lately, I have felt a tug on my heart to mention him more in the posts that I share.

Now, that doesn’t mean I’m going to go all “Bible” on y’all.  I wouldn’t dream of doing that!……. OR WOULD I?   😉

I mentioned before in a previous post about being Hospitable towards others.  We are called to do this and I believe it is truly good for someone’s soul to show hospitality towards others.  It is a natural thing to want to show others kindness.  Showing hospitality is a kissin cousin of kindness.

Think about it!

Doesn’t it make you happy to see the smile on someone’s face when you give them a gift?  It’s a joyous feeling when you truly see the look of excitement from them.  The fact that you would take the time to think of them and make them feel special makes their heart so full.

Well, we have been blessed this year with a Crazy Growing…..Wild Looking……. (Like it is on Steroids)……. Garden.

We have veggies coming off left and right.  As we sat there admiring the fruits of our labors,  we thought to ourselves…..” There is no way we will ever eat all of this ourselves!”

Then, for a second (AND I MEAN SPLIT SECOND), we thought we could.

Then we thought about the MASSIVE 5 day bellyache that may cause.

Then, we had an idea!

Why not bless our friends and family like God has blessed us this Summer?

I thought this would be a great opportunity to show my BABIES  how to show that same hospitality towards others…..

So, we grabbed our baskets….

DSC_3760

Some ribbon, and cards and got movin.

DSC_3762

We stuffed them full of goodies….

DSC_3751

Added a quick note….

DSC_3759

Plus a little tag secured by the ribbon.  “Veggie-Blessed” was the best I could come up with.  DONT JUDGE ME!  LOL!

DSC_3768

Then we took off and made our stops.

DSC_3770

I loved the sheer excitement on my babies faces when they got to deliver the baskets to our friends.  Some were home and some were not.  I don’t know…… There is something fun about leaving goodies for your friends on their doorsteps.  Thinking about the look on their faces when they see the gift that was left for them.

*SIDE NOTE:  Make sure that you let them know there is something waiting for them on their doorstep just in case they have a garage.  If they are like me, they don’t use their front door as much and might not see it waiting there for them!  😉

DSC_3772

They couldn’t wait to run up to the next door!

DSC_3773

DSC_3775

You know, they say it is better to give than to receive.

However,

When you give,

You  DO Receive!

You receive the smiles and the thankfulness that goes along with giving of yourself and your time.

Now I ask you…..

What could be better than that?

“Do not forget to show Hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some have shown Hospitality to Angels without knowing it.”

What ways do you show Hospitality towards others?

DSC_3754

Why not try something easy to start off with?  Why not try writing a note to someone and ask them how they have been and tell them how much you care about them?  Put a stamp on it and stick it in the mail!  The gesture will go further than you think!

*Will you be the next to be Veggie-Blessed?

Let’s SEE!

xoxo,

Esther
