Rosemary
Rosemary and Peppermint Body Soap
The Holidays are just a blink away and it wouldn’t be nice of me if I didn’t share this updated version of the DIY Soap I make for my family and myself. I did a post a while back about an experience I had on my 10th Wedding Anniversary where my poor sensitive skin reacted to a facial cleanser I purchased.
Long story short, I started to make my own and loved it so much that now, that is all my entire family uses. Since then, I have also had a few other family members and friends start to use it and now that is all they use too!
Adding Rosemary and Peppermint not only gives the bars a fantastic smell…… I think they would be great Christmas gifts because the fragrance is so perfect for the Holidays!
Simply wrap them in wax paper and secure them with decorative twine and you have the cutest little homemade gifts that mean so much more when it comes to gift giving.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to share some REALLY BIG NEWS! Well, BIG NEWS for me at least! 😉
I have had so many requests for videos and now, I am excited to announce that Babies and Biscuits will now be posting videos on Youtube.
My hope is that you will find them helpful and maybe a little funny. Maybe I should also mention that I hope you get my kind of cooky personality too.
Just for you, I went ahead and made a video for the Rosemary and Peppermint Soap bars during the last batch I made.
Check out the video Below!
Don’t forget to check back often and subscribe so you never miss a new video.
Happy Saturday Everybody!
XOXO,
Esther

Herbed Compound Butter!……………….
What?…………
You mean, you haven’t heard of it? “Why, I declare!”
Look! Compound Butter is just a fancy shmancy way of saying Butter with Stuff in it! And since we try not to be too fancy shmancy around here, that’s what we will call it.
Well, let me just tell you. The other night, I started off with the idea of making some for the grilled corn we were making for dinner. Then, as we started to sit down and eat, I remembered that I had seen an episode once on Foodnetwork where someone put it on their steak!
Since we just so happened to be having steak with that corn, I decided to give it a try. LAWRDY, Y’ALL!
You will die and go to heaven when you try it! It’s a MUST! Not sure I will ever have steak another way again! (*It was that good!)
Pretty sure after you try it, you’ll feel the same way. Plus, you aren’t going to believe how easy it is!
First, take some herbs. Anything you like. I chose to do Parsley and Rosemary.
Finely Chop…….
Add that to a softened stick of butter.
Mix well…. (*Now, most would put this in plastic wrap, form into a log, and place in the fridge to set up. After that, you can slice it like you would cookie batter and put on whatever you like.)
Me? I just put the bowl into the fridge for about 5 minutes and then just spooned it over whatever I wanted. LOL! *Patience is NOT a virtue of mine.
By the way, it’s just as good either way! 😉
Slather all over some fresh grilled corn AND a grilled steak! Oh my! Oh my!
You will NOT be disappointed!
ENJOY!
Recipe: Herbed Compound Butter
Ingredients:
– 1 Stick Butter
– 2 Tablespoons Parsley, Chopped
– 2 Tablespoons Rosemary, Chopped
Directions:
– Combine all ingredients and place in plastic wrap. Form into a “log”. Place in fridge for 1 hour . Cut butter into slices and place on top of vegetables, meats, casseroles……. the possibilities are endless!
– If you dont want to do any of this, just place bowl into fridge for 5-10 minutes and serve as you wish.
Galvanized Bucket Planters
I love Galvanized Buckets, don’t you? They are perfect for so many uses and they just scream “Southern” to me.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of them are Bobbing for Apples. In fact, when I went to the hardware store to buy them, that is exactly what the old man said to me. “Somebody’s gonna be bobbin for some apples, aren’t they?” he said.
“Actually…………… no,” I replied.
“Whatcha gonna use em for?”
“Well, I’m gonna make some holes in them and make em into planters.” (Yup! My grammar is just as good as his)
Then he said…….
“Alright now. Don’tcha be plantin any of dat there MARIJUANA, now!”
WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?
“Ummmmm, NO SIR! Don’t you worry about that, now!” (Yes, this is a true story and it happened yesterday! LOL!)
So, like I said folks.
I bought a couple of the galvanized buckets.
Flipped them over and made my “Brawny Man” poke some holes in the bottom for drainage. We used a nail and hammer.
They weren’t big enough, so I made him go back and make them bigger. 🙂
Then, I poured some drainage rocks into the bottom of the buckets.
About 2 or 3 inches high.
I filled it up with the same type of soil that I put in my vegetable beds and planted some herbs and a regular annual in them. (From back and going clockwise: Rosemary, Chocolate Mint, Annual, and Sweet Mint)
Em, my chocolate lover is very happy with me and cannot wait to help me with recipes using the chocolate mint.
I’m so happy with the way they turned out.
I did the same thing to the second one, except I planted some diffent things in there. You can’t really see it from the pic, but starting in the back and moving clockwise again is: Onion Chives, Citronella Plant (also known as a Mosquito Plant), Annual, and another Citronella Plant. The worst thing ever in the summer is trying to work in your vegetable garden and getting eaten up by Mosquitos. Let’s hope this helps a little. If it does, you might just see these EVERYWHERE in my backyard!
Since the Vegetable Bed post, which you can see here, we made another bed and used it for our Cucumbers. We also made it big enough to allow me to plant some more herbs in there as well. I planted Flat Leaf Parsley, Oregano, Sweet Basil, German Thyme, Dill, and one Okra Plant (I ran out of room in the other bed).
I am SOOOOO happy with the way everything turned out!
I personally think it is Beautiful and I cannot wait to do updated posts as the vegetables get bigger. We already have small clusters of tomatoes and I am proud to announce………..
NOT ONE SINGLE MARIJUANA PLANT in sight. 😉
HAPPY SATURDAY Y’ALL!
Go play in your yard!
XOXO,
ESTHER
